The IRS is now enforcing EPA sulfur spec regulations and requirements for diesel fuel, kerosene and heating oil. If you sell, transport or store these fuels, you must be in compliance. Failure to comply may result in fines of up to $32,000 per day, per violation. And, the IRS will be providing fuel compliance officers (FCO’s) to assist the EPA in enforcing the various requirements under the new ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel regulations. The New England Fuel Institute offers compliance kits (free for members) providing guidance on these requirements as well as a range of compliance support materials.
