To reauthorize the National Oilheat Research Alliance Act of 2000

The National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA) has been facing a funding threat this year. Bills introduced in both the House and the Senate look to extend that funding. S. 1672 was introduced by Senator John (Jack) Reed (D-R.I.) and has been referred to committee. It currently counts as co sponsors: Richard Burr (R-NC); Susan Collins (R-ME); Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY); Judd Gregg (R-NH); John Kerry (D-MA); Bernard Sanders (I-VT); Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH); Olympia Snowe (R-ME); and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI).


On the House side, H.R. 3589 sponsored by Representative Peter Welch (D-VT) has also been referred to committee. It currently ahs 17 sponsors: Frederick Boucher (D-VA9); Bruce Braley (D-IA1); Joe Courtney (D-CT2); William Delahunt (D-MA10); Barney Frank (D-MA4); Maurice Hinchey (D-NY22); Paul Hodes (D-NH2); Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX18); Patrick Kennedy (D-RI1); James Langevin (D-RI2); John Larson (D-CT1); Michael McMahon (D-NY13); Michael Michaud (D-ME2); Chellie Pingree (D-ME1); Joseph Pitts (R-PA16); Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH1); and Bart Stupak (D-MI1).


Industry members are encouraged to contact their representatives and ask for their support in the NORA reauthorization.
