ST. LOUIS, MO (March 9, 2010)’At the Green Truck Summit this morning, the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) announced the formation of a new affiliate division, the Green Truck Association (GTA). The GTA was created to help fleets, manufacturers, upfitters, government agencies and other industry stakeholders stay current with relevant regulatory and industry developments, while also helping to expand and improve the market for green truck applications. It will launch later this spring.

‘Creating an affiliate division specifically focused on green trucks is a natural extension of the work the NTEA began in this area with the launch of the Green Truck Summit a few years ago,” said Andrew Outcalt, NTEA President and President of Meyer Products and Swenson Spreader (Cleveland, OH). ‘As interest and demand for green products continues to grow within the work truck industry, we are positioning the Association and our members to provide the support and insight needed to drive ongoing technology improvements and increase awareness of real-world applications.”

The GTA will focus on increasing work truck productivity, improving fuel utilization and accelerating the adoption of green technologies. The organization will:

·                     Showcase green trucks and technology developments.

·                     Serve as a member resource for legislative, regulatory and funding initiatives relevant to green truck development.

·                     Supply members with market data and technical resources.

·                     Share timely news on green truck products and initiatives.

GTA membership is open to any interested business or organization. Members will be provided with a broad range of information on a regular basis through daily Web site postings, e-newsletters, white papers, technical information, new product updates and research findings.

In addition to the Green Truck Association, the NTEA currently has 11 other Affiliate groups. These Affiliate Divisions and Committees represent specific product segments within the work truck and trailer industry, such as ambulance manufacturers, service body manufacturers and propane truck builders.
