Dead River Company Enters Massachusetts Market

Cetane Associates announced that on November 18th, Dead River Company acquired the assets of Country Oil in Bernardston, MA and Country Fuel in Gardner MA.  Dead River is one of the largest retail marketers of home heating oil and propane in New England and this marks their first entrance into the Massachusetts market. The transaction was handled through Steve Abbate, of Cetane Associates.  Mr. Abbate said that there was a tremendous amount of interest in Country Oil from many prospective purchasers.  The company has a high quality customer base and a state of the art facility servicing Central Massachusetts and parts of Vermont and New Hampshire.  John Cormier, the owner of Country Oil made a decision to retire after spending most of his work life in the industry.  Mr. Cormier brought in Cetane Associates to find the best company to take over the business he had built from the ground up.  He will be staying on as a consultant to assist Dead River in the transition, as well as in looking for additional acquisition opportunities in the area.  For additional information on the transaction you may contact Mr. Abbate at sabbate@cetane.net or 410.404.3199.
