CITGO Petroleum Corporation’s Terminal Facilities and Pipeline group was awarded the 2012 Platinum Award for Safety by the International Liquid Terminals Association (ILTA) at the organization’s 32nd Annual Operating Conference and Trade Show on May 23.

The Platinum Award for Safety is the highest achievement award given by ILTA. This award recognizes companies that have achieved outstanding safety and health performance through promoting and practicing safety awareness and minimizing workplace incidents and injuries. To be considered for the ILTA awards, firms must take part in a survey which collects safety performance data from the terminal industry. Companies identified as the top performers via the survey are invited to submit a detailed description of their safety and health programs. A panel of industry leaders conducts a blind review of those submissions and selects the Platinum Award winner.

CITGO owns and/or operates 48 petroleum product terminals, which comprise one of the largest networks in the country.

CITGO Petroleum Corporation, based in Houston, is a refiner, transporter and marketer of transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals and other industrial products.  The company is owned by PDV America, Inc., an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A., the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
