Renewable Energy Group Adds Ted Crosbie to Board of Directors

AMES, Iowa — Renewable Energy Group, Inc. announced that Dr. Theodore M. Crosbie has been elected to serve on the Company’s Board of Directors.

Crosbie has served in leadership roles for multi-national companies where he led agronomic research and development and helped to establish one the world’s largest plant breeding programs. He has also served as Iowa’s Chief Technology Officer, where he was first appointed by former Gov. Tom Vilsack in 2005, then re-appointed to the post by Gov. Chet Culver and Gov. Terry Branstad.

“Ted Crosbie is a pioneer in agricultural research and development and brings extensive expertise to the table,” said Jeff Stroburg, Chairman of the Board. “His proven success and wide-ranging business knowledge will be a great asset for our Board and REG.”

Most recently, Crosbie was the research and development lead for the Integrated Farming Systems platform for Monsanto from 2010 until his retirement in March 2014. In January 2002, Crosbie was named a Distinguished Fellow in Science in recognition of his broad strategic impact in Monsanto through scientific leadership. He was a member of the Monsanto Advisory Committee, the Technology Leadership Team, and the Global Strategy Group Leadership team. Crosbie joined Monsanto in 1996 and served in various roles, including Vice President of Global Plant Breeding and Director of Global Wheat Breeding.

Prior to joining Monsanto, Crosbie was the President and Chief Executive Officer of ICI Seeds, USA from 1990 to 1995 after spending most of his career in plant breeding research as a graduate faculty member of Iowa State University’s Agronomy Department. In 2013, Governor Branstad and the Iowa Innovation Corporation recognized him with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to economic development in the State of Iowa.

Crosbie’s term of office expires at the Company’s 2015 annual meeting of stockholders.
