Propane Rail Terminal to Open This Summer in Montgomery, N.Y.

Crestwood Services, Kansas City, Mo., the supply and logistics unit of Crestwood Equity Partners, said that a new rail terminal it is building in Montgomery, N.Y., is expected to open this summer. The terminal will supply propane marketers across New York, New England and other parts of the Northeast, the company said.

The terminal will include a 16-spot rail rack operating two switches per day, assuring a capacity of up to 100 trucks per day—a volume of one million gallons, the company said in a statement. A four-spot truck rack with can pumps is designed to load four trucks in 17 minutes, and should  eliminate long wait times during peak winter months while optimizing daily transportation, the company said. The Montgomery terminal will be serviced by the Middleton & New Jersey (M&NJ) Railroad and can operate seven days per week, offering marketers greater convenience as well as product access and reliability, the company said.

Andy Ronald, vice president of commercial development and national accounts for Crestwood Services, said, “With this facility, we can provide propane marketers in New York and the Northeast with reliable supply since the terminal is backed by product controlled by Crestwood from multiple shale producers in the Marcellus and Utica.”

Ronald added, “We’ve seen such strong demand from our two recently opened rail terminals in Davisville, Rhode Island, and Rose Hill, North Carolina—as well as from our long-established rail operations—that we are confident the Montgomery terminal will bring much-needed supply to customers in New York and across New England and the Northeast.”
