On Tuesday, March 6, the Massachusetts Energy Marketers Association will host a webinar for the association and the state’s heating oil industry with the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) that will focus on explaining details of the recently enacted Alternative Energy Credits program under the Commonwealth’s Alternative Portfolio Standard (APS).

The webinar will begin at 10 a.m. and will last until 11:30 a.m. Participation requires access to a computer, the internet and a phone line. More details on how to access the webinar will be emailed and faxed to MEMA members in early March.

Effective Jan. 1, 2018, retail heating oil companies in Massachusetts can receive Alternative Energy Credits (AECs) for delivering heating oil to customers containing blends of “Eligible Liquid Biofuel” at B10 (10%) or higher.

“These regulations present a significant opportunity for the retail heating oil industry as more and more dealers begin to market renewable biofuel,” MEMA’s president, Michael Ferrante, wrote in the association’s newsletter. “For the past two years MEMA has been heavily involved in helping to guide these regulations to final passage and there are many details. We encourage all members to participate in this webinar.”

Further, DOER has released finalized applications and reports for Eligible Liquid Biofuel under the APS program, Ferrante reported in the association newsletter. The documents, which are available on DOER’s website include:
