Rep. John Faso (R-NY) joined more than two dozen National Propane Gas Association members and New York constituents for a conference call, hosted by PropanePAC, according to NPGA Reports, the association’s newsletter. During the March 1 call, Faso, a freshman member who sits on the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and is also a member of the Congressional Propane Caucus, discussed at length his support for amending the Jones Act, especially as it relates to providing reliable energy supply to upstate New York.

His district, NY-19, is larger than the states of Connecticut and Rhode Island combined, with more than 28,500 propane-heated homes.  Reliable propane supply and delivery infrastructure, particularly during the winter, is a constituent necessity for New York and the whole Northeast region.  And while Rep. Faso did say that there is talk in Congress of revisiting the Jones Act, easing or repealing its rules will be very difficult due to strong bi-partisan support and maritime interests.
