Energy Distribution Partners Acquires Washington State Propane Marketer

Energy Distribution Partners (EDP), Chicago, Illinois, acquired a privately-owned propane marketer that operates in four counties in the greater Seattle area under the names Kitsap Propane and Jefferson Propane. EDP said the companies, acquired from Larry Brooke and his wife Leah Henry, provide propane and propane equipment to residential and commercial customers in Kitsap, Jefferson, Mason and Clallam Counties. The primary service area is in Kitsap and Jefferson Counties, west of the Puget Sound. EDP announced the acquisition in a statement issued May 2. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed in the statement.

The Brookes launched Kitsap Propane in 2006 and expanded the business, adding Jefferson Propane in recent years. The combined operations serve more than 4,500 customers today. “Leah and I are extremely pleased to transition our company to the team at EDP,” said Larry Brooke. “They are trustworthy and have been straight shooters. We decided to partner with EDP because we knew they would continue to treat our customers, employees, and the communities in which we operate with care and respect. As we begin a new chapter of our lives, we do so with the full confidence that EDP will continue to provide exceptional service to our customers.”

Tom Knauff, Energy Distribution Partners CEO, stated, “We are delighted to welcome Kitsap Propane and Jefferson Propane to the EDP family of companies, and we are thrilled to be expanding our footprint into the Pacific Northwest. Larry Brooke and his wife, Leah Henry, have built a solid business, and we look forward to expanding on the foundation they have built. We also look forward to expansion opportunities for the mobile application they pioneered called Propane EZ, which will bring fresh capabilities to propane customers throughout our service areas across the country.”

Energy Distribution Partners specializes in retail and commercial propane sales, operations and finance. The company provides propane service to residential and commercial customers in California, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and now in the state of Washington. Energy Distribution Partners pursues a long-term strategy of purchasing successful operations in propane and other fuels and in the midstream energy sector, retaining the brand name, preserving local management and delegating to leaders in local communities.

This is EDP’s 15th transaction. The company is actively seeking partners for growth. For more information, visit www.edplp.net.
