DataOnline Acquires Independent Technologies
DataOnline announced that it acquired Independent Technologies, whose largest division, Wesroc, is a provider of tank monitoring systems to the North American propane market, offering cellular, satellite, and LoRa technology.
Along with DataOnline’s recent acquisition of Germany-based Wikon GmbH, the combined businesses will serve more than 1,000 customers in more than 75 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, DataOnline said.
Independent Technologies, founded in 1985, is a diversified provider of hardware, software, and services to the telecommunications, oil and gas, and power industries. Its brands include Enertrac, Wintel, and Sheyenne Dakota.
Developing new products and improving user experience will be primary goals of the consolidated businesses, said Rob Barnacle, president of DataOnline.
DataOnline Chief Operating Officer Chet Reshamwala said the company was leveraging its scale and expertise to perform competitively in multiple monitoring segments – industrial gas, LPG, LNG, CO2, oil and gas, and water.
The enterprise will focus on innovation in low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) technologies, hardware reliability, battery life, mobile access, route planning/scheduling, and predictive analytics, DataOnline said in an Aug. 6 announcement of the acquisition.

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
DataOnline provides cloud-based scheduling and route planning tools, mobile access, and 24/7 support. It specializes in supply chain optimization, advanced analytics, environmental compliance and hazardous container tracking.
