The American Energy Coalition announced that for the sixth straight year, Star Group L.P. (comprising Petro, Meenan, Champion, Griffith, Carroll and others) will match all contributions to the AEC Fall Fundraising Campaign with 25 cents on every dollar contributed.
The decision by Star Group President and CEO Steven J. Goldman, first announced by Star Group Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and AEC Vice President Neil Bianco, challenges other retail dealers to support the AEC effort to promote the benefits of oil heat and monitor messaging from gas utilities and their trade associations.
This matching challenge has been hugely successful in prior years and has been used effectively by the AEC Investment Committee, co-chaired by Kevin Beckett and Bryan Coyne, in Fall fundraising campaigns. The challenge has also benefited state associations that have seen their allocation of AEC Marketing Funds increase by 25% as they participated in the AEC marketing campaigns.
The Star Group’s match will apply to all donations received by the AEC from Sept. 1 through Dec. 15.
The gas utilities continue to aggressively pursue oil heat customers with claims that promise cost savings and environmental benefits by converting to natural gas. The AEC works to refute those claims through radio commercials, bill inserts, data sheets, e-mail blasts, social media outreach and through its website, americanenergycoalition.org. The Star Group’s support, and the support of other oil heat industry stakeholders, is critical.
