The State of the Industry: Trends, Developments, Challenges

Industry leaders Sean Cota, Roberta Fagan and JD Buss will present their insights
on the current state of the deliverable fuels business and share their thoughts on
how marketers can make the most of their opportunities moving forward.
Sean Cota became president and chief executive editor of the New England Fuel Institute in December. For nearly 35 years, he worked for his family’s full-service heating oil and propane business, Cota & Cota of Bellows Falls, Vt. Cota has served on the NEFI board of directors since 1990 and is a past chairman. He has testified more than a dozen times before Congressional committees and regulatory agencies.
Roberta Fagan is executive director of the Oil Heat Institute of Rhode Island. Appointed three years ago, she works as an advocate for fuel marketers by providing oversight of regulatory and legislative issues, and promoting education and business development. In addition, Fagan is operations manager and dispatch manager of Anchor Fuel, a marketer in Middletown, R.I. Fagan has a CDL and makes fuel deliveries as well. Fagan is a trustee of the industry group Women in Energy.
JD Buss joined Twin Feathers Consulting 10 years ago after experience at Koch Industries and Enron in risk management and marketing/trading roles. He has passed his Series 3 license and is a Commodity Trading Advisor. As a CPA and former small business owner, J.D. also brings accounting knowledge and operational experience to Twin Feathers and its client base. Buss has spoken at NPGA events, state association meetings, OPIS seminars, and at Mexican propane conferences regarding the propane risk and supply markets.
