National Energy Choice Act Introduced with Bipartisan Support
The national heating fuels choice bill, the Energy Choice Act, was reintroduced simultaneously in both the House and Senate with, for the first time, bipartisan support, the National Energy & Fuels Institute reported.
“Introduced by Rep. Nick Langworthy (R-NY-23) in the House as H.R. 3699 and by Senator Jim Justice (R-WV) in the Senate as S. 1945, the Energy Choice Act would prevent state and local governments from adopting, implementing, or enforcing any law, regulation, ordinance, or building code that prohibits or limits – or has the effect of limiting – access to heating fuels based on energy type or source,” the Institute reported in the June 10 issue of its newsletter, NEFI Energy Online News.
Langworthy, who serves as a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and as a member of the Energy and Environment subcommittees, said in a statement that he has made protecting energy choices a top priority.
