Tenants and Management Join Together to Help Rebuild Homes in Haiti

Fresh Meadows, NY: In response to the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, Jerry Pindus, CEO of U.S. Energy Group, in cooperation with TedPin Realty and Ben Schwartz of Metropolitan Property Services, Inc., join the residents of 180 East 17th Street to support Habitat for Humanity International and their efforts in Haiti. For four weeks, the residents will hold a fundraising drive, writing checks directly to Habitat for Humanity International, and the management will match the funds, up to $50 per contribution. A chart in the lobby of the building will track the fundraising progress throughout. Many residents in the six-story, 90-unit building, as well as neighbors in the larger community, have family and friends directly suffering the effects of the tragedy.

‘I am so proud of the residents of 180 East 17th Street for their response to the situation in Haiti,” stated Jerry Pindus, CEO of U.S. Energy Group and President of TedPin Realty. ‘Our building community can join together and make a big difference as a group.”

Haiti has been devastated by the recent earthquake, and it is estimated that at least 100,000 people have lost their lives and one million people have been affected. Children have been left without their parents, and families have been left without homes. Habitat for Humanity International has been working with Haiti for over 26 years and is positioned to lead in the rebuilding efforts.

‘Habitat’s mission and response in Haiti is so crucial,” stated Ben Schwartz of Metropolitan Property Services, Inc. ‘The country needs to rebuild and the residents of 180 East 17th Street want to make a tangible difference.”
