Saunders Students Compete for Oil Rights at National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers Annual Competition
Event Date: Tuesday, April 27, 2010 7:45 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Saunders Trades and Technical High School Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) students flex their pipes, plugs and ports as they go head to head with teams of students from New York City high schools in the National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers Annual Competition. This ‘hot” event takes place Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Saunders, 183 Palmer Road in Yonkers.
The Saunders students, who are destined to become very important people in our energy dependent society, flex their muscle and sharp elbows as they demonstrate their individual and team prowess in boiler installation, burners, water feed lines, and that wild card of a challenge, troubleshooting.
The day begins with a tune-up of brain power in the form of a written exam, then quickly moves on to a hands-on duel amongst the students from Saunders, William E. Grady High School in Brooklyn, NY, Alfred E. Smith High School in the Bronx and Hazleton Area Career Center in Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
The schedule for April 27 is as follows:
10:00 a.m. Written Exam
10:40 a.m. Hands-on Competition
