More than 165 people attended Sprague’s 29th annual charitable and customer appreciation golf outing on Monday, Aug. 6, in support of both the Muscular Dystrophy Association of New Hampshire (MDA) and Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire. The golf event and auction, which took place at the Wentworth by the Sea Country Club in Rye, N.H., raised more than $175,000 through ticket sales, sponsorships and auction item sales, making it one of the most successful events to date. The company has raised more than $1.75 million through its fundraising events over the past 29 years, including the sum raised in this most recent event.

“The Sprague golf event is our largest charitable event of the year,” said David Glendon, president and CEO of Sprague. “We are extremely grateful to the employees, suppliers and customers who have generously contributed to this event year after year. Their continued support has allowed us to raise more than $1.75 million for charity. As we approach thirty years of giving, we are happy to extend our support to two great charities – the MDA and Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire.”

New Hampshire resident Joel Shortlidge expressed how thankful he and his wife Lisa are to Sprague and Damon Burton charity for their continued support of the MDA.

“David is now able to go to camp each year with children from all over New England,” said Joel Shortlidge. “The MDA camp is a special camp. David has many needs, as do many of the other kids at the camp.” Describing his son’s need to use a wheelchair, and how new treatments currently being tested using dollars from the MDA are critical for their son’s future, Joel Shortlidge said, “These could help save David’s life.”

Over the past two years, Sprague has raised over $80,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire through the event. BBBSNH has been changing lives one friendship at a time for over 50 years. The program pairs youths with mentors to serve as a foundation for transformative impact and life skills learning.
