GMC introduced the 2011 Sierra Denali HD, marking the first time the Denali line has been available on a heavy-duty GMC pickup.

‘This year’s Work Truck Show was truly exciting,” said Jim Carney, executive director of the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA), which produces the event. ‘More than 8,000 industry professionals who attended the Show got the opportunity to see many of the latest work trucks and new equipment before anyone else in the world. I am so proud of our team that has worked together to make the Work Truck Show the launching pad of choice for new products in the commercial truck, trailer and equipment industry.”

The Work Truck Show 2010 was held in conjunction with the 46th Annual NTEA Convention at America’s Center in St. Louis, MO, March 1012, 2010. The Convention, educational sessions and Green Truck Summit opened March 9. Verified attendance at the event was 8,054, placing this year’s event in the top three in Work Truck Show history.

The Show floor was sold out, with 530 exhibitors filling more than 500,000 square feet of exhibit space with new vocational trucks, components and equipment. Overall, more than 80 new products were introduced at the event.

‘The number of new products introduced at the Show is a testament that our industry can continue to be innovative and productive even during these hard economic times,” Carney said. ‘And while we continue to feel the pinch of the economic downturn, the success of The Work Truck Show 2010 proves the significance of this event in meeting the needs and interests of our industry.”

Going Green

The Work Truck Show expanded its green initiatives this year. The popular Green Truck Summit, which was extended to two days in a partnership with CALSTART, sold out. Show attendees also had the opportunity to drive 15 green trucks on the streets of St. Louis during the Green Truck Ride-and-Drive on March 10 and 11. Several exhibitors took the opportunity to introduce new green products and technology at the Show, including Freightliner Custom Chassis with its plug-in electric walk-in van chassis; Smith Electric Vehicles, which displayed its Newton battery-electric commercial truck; and ALTe, which introduced the prototype of a new Range Extended Electric Powertrain (REEP) propulsion system that is retrofitted to existing commercial vehicles to improve their fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
