NAOHSM Announces New Scholarship Program
December 3, 2010 ‘ the Oilheating Industry is continually looking for qualified heating technicians to work in our industry. NAOHSM (National Association of Oilheating Service Managers) whose mission is Education takes the lead with this effort by annually offering scholarships to those students interested in furthering their education in the HVAC field.
This is our 12th year of awarding the Dave Nelsen Scholarship awards. To date, we have awarded over $161,000 in scholarships. In 2010, we awarded twelve (12) $2000 awards. For 2011, we are modifying the criteria for the review process and limiting the number of awards. There will be a minimum of four awards ‘ each $5000.00. More emphasis will be placed upon applications of students whose instructor (s) has submitted a recommendation, financial need and a clear passion for their future plans. Each Award will be jointly named after the sponsor ‘ the manufacturer (or individual) and NAOHSM.
All winners and their families will be invited to be our guests at our annual awards banquet held the Tuesday of our convention. Special tables will be reserved for the sponsors of the award and the student receiving the award.
NAOHSM funds its portion of the awards through our annual golf tournament ‘ the Dave Nelsen Scholarship Tournament. Starting this year, our tournament will be held on Monday, May 23rd starting at 1:00 p.m. It will be a scramble with a shotgun start held at Iron Valley Golf Course, Lebanon, PA. The cost per golfer includes golf participation, lunch and a cocktail party following the event where prizes will be awarded.

NAOHSM’s 58th annual convention and trade show will be held at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, Hershey, PA ‘ May 22-25th, 2011.
