EPA Announces July Biodiesel Production Figures

WASHINGTON – The EPA on Thursday reported 132 million gallons of biodiesel production for the month of July and year-to-date volume of more than 768 million gallons.

Biodiesel is the first EPA-designated Advanced Biofuel to reach 1 billion gallons of annual production. The industry has surpassed RFS targets for two consecutive years and is on pace to do so again this year.

The production volumes are reported under the Biomass-based Diesel category under the RFS. To view the figures, visit the EPA’s website here. The latest numbers show a total of more than 166 million gallons of Biomass-based Diesel in July, but that total also includes production of renewable diesel. The biodiesel portion of the total was 132 million gallons.

Made from an increasingly diverse mix of resources such as recycled cooking oil, soybean oil and animal fats, biodiesel is the first and only EPA-designated Advanced Biofuel with commercial-scale production nationwide. It is produced in nearly every state in the country and supports some 50,000 jobs. The National Biodiesel Board is the U.S. biodiesel trade association.
