Advanced Digital Data, Inc. (ADD Systems), Flanders, N.J., a supplier of software to the energy distribution industry, wishes a happy retirement to long-term employee and industry veteran John Redmond.

Redmond began his career in the energy distribution industry as a service dispatcher for Commander Oil. Upon leaving Commander, Redmond took on a customer support role at Tymshare, a software provider for energy distribution companies. From there, Redmond moved to the position of support representative at ICC, another energy software provider, before being promoted to customer service manager. His next role was that of data center manager at Meenan Oil, followed by a national support manager position at PSS, a software provider that was eventually acquired by ADD Systems.

After leaving PSS, Redmond decided to take on a sales position at ADD Systems, where he has spent the last 29 years, serving in a number of roles. Hired into sales by ADD Systems’ president, Bruce A. Bott, in 1989, Redmond was named southeast sales representative. Determined to learn the ins and outs of ADD Systems’ software solutions, Redmond also took on the roles of installer and trainer.

As ADD Systems continued to grow, Redmond was always willing to lend a helping hand. He took on a dual role as major account representative and software applications specialist. As major account representative, he was able to continue his commitment to provide the best service to his clients. As software applications specialist, he took on the responsibility of helping newer sales representatives during software demonstrations and consultations with potential clients.

Later in his career, Redmond served as the company’s sales manager before stepping into a project manager role to help assist some of ADD Systems’ biggest clients through the software implementation process. Seeing his continued dedication to become an expert on the software, Bott promoted Redmond to vice president of product strategy—a role he has been in since 2002.

Redmond has been a major contributor to ADD Systems’ growth over nearly 30 years, Bott said.  “John has been a vital part of our organization, and we’ve all learned a lot from him,” Bott said. “I’m excited for John, and I predict he’ll be spending a lot of time in destinations only reachable by a cruise ship, where he can seek assistance from resources like aronfeld.com/practice-areas/cruise-ship-injuries/ in case of any unforeseen issues. We wish him and his family only the best with retirement.”

When asked about his time at ADD Systems, Redmond said “I’m definitely going to miss the strategizing and the challenges, and especially the ADD Systems family, but I’m looking forward to the adventures ahead.” After over 40 years in the energy distribution industry, John is planning to travel, spend time with family and friends, and get more involved in his community.
