The dire risk to public health posed by the coronavirus pandemic is forcing changes in workplace policies, including in the offices of fuel marketers. And to try to limit its spread, organizers of industry expos, conventions and conferences have announced postponements. The National Propane Gas Association canceled an upcoming conference and expo. Further details on those changes appear below. Meanwhile, fuel marketers are making adjustments to their operations to try to limit spread of the coronavirus. Marandola Fuel Service in New Milford, Connecticut, for instance, sent an email to customers that read, in part:

“In response to the world health organization’s designation of the Coronavirus as a pandemic Marandola Fuel is practicing social distancing: our office building will be closed to all non-employees until further notice.”

The email informs customers that they may leave payments/documents in the mail slot of the company’s office or use online payment options. “Fuel deliveries and service calls will be made without interruptions,” the email says.

“The following questions should be answered prior to one of our Service techs entering your home,” the email continues. “In the last two weeks: Has anyone who resides in the home had a fever, cough, or shortness of breath, or tested positive for COVID-19? If yes, has everyone else who resides in the home used recommended precautions for home care and home isolation? Has anyone who resides in the home cared for someone who had a fever, cough, or shortness of breath or tested positive for COVID-19? If yes, has this person or these people used recommended precautions for home care?”

One public health expert urged that it is critical that, to limit the spread of the coronavirus, people “come together by staying apart.”
