NEFI’s Executive Board voted unanimously with one abstention on Sept. 15 to adopt and promote “Principles for Equitable and Reliable Building Decarbonization,” also known as the Boston Resolution.

The document had been developed over five months by the Northeast Working Group (NEW-G), an independent body established by the Board and co-chaired by Charlie Uglietto, owner of Cubby Oil & Energy, Wilmington, Massachusetts, and Rocco Lacertosa, president and CEO of the New York State Energy Coalition. The “Principles for Equitable and Reliable Building Decarbonization” were presented to stakeholders at the 7th Annual Heating Fuel Summit on August 22, and unanimously ratified by all present.

The Boston Resolution is a set of principles that will guide interactions with legislators, media, and the public regarding intelligent, actionable, and attainable building decarbonization. The resolution has been submitted to regional, state, and local heating fuel associations throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, to establish a unified industry voice for engagement with policymakers at all levels of government.
