Industry Leader Dies

OnWatch Electronics’ owner John Bunting, 61, died Sunday, Feb 8, 2009. John passed his last days peacefully at home, after a year-long fight against cancer.

John will be remembered as an innovator and industry leader, having spent the last 20 years owning and leading his company. OnWatch Electronics Inc. was John’s answer in the early 90s, to a need for reliable tools that would monitor and record data during heating and cooling equipment operation.  A few of the trade names associated with OnWatch are “secure heat,” “quick look,” “quick read,” “gas stick” and the company’s  flagship products “Model 41” and “Model 51” diagnostic recorders.

John was visited by family members and friends during the last days of his illness. Many close to him said his engaging personality and his everyday values while living would easily overshadow a period of declining health. Many people were unaware that John was ill.

He was born in New Haven, Conn., grew up in New Jersey and Massachusetts and settled in New Boston, New Hampshire. John enjoyed the charm and activities of life in a close knit New England community with his wife, Merry, for over 40 years.

Few people would be surprised to learn that, in addition to his industry endeavors, John was an advocate for small communities, politically and as a hands-on volunteer. John was also a retired career firefighter in Concord, NH, as well as a lifetime volunteer firefighter in his home town.

John is survived by his wife, Meredith, of New Boston, New Hampshire, brothers and a sister.
