R.I. Governor: ‘Economy’s Future Is Going to Be in Renewables’
“We know the economy’s future is going to be in renewables,” Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee said in his opening luncheon keynote address at the Southern New England Energy Conference in Newport, Rhode Island.
McKee, invited to the conference by EMARI Executive Director Diane E. Quesnelle, went on to talk about the state’s energy policies and its strong regional leadership in moving the industry to increasingly higher blends of biofuels for heating. The governor is from a family that owns a heating oil business–McKee Brothers Energy Solutions in Cumberland, RI. McKee was a third-generation owner of the company, which was founded by his grandfather in 1900, and the enterprise today continues as a family business.
